I am Ed, the creator of Path Out Of Pain.
I am a certified Holistic Life Coach and Mindbody Practitioner specializing in chronic pain recovery.
I am not a doctor or specialist for acute physical injuries but I have spent the last 2 years learning from the best pain specialists and neuroscientists in how to move forward with chronic pain recovery. I have been fortunate enough to put these learnings into practice and had my own journey from pain to freedom.
Lets start at the beginning of my story.
10 years ago I was involved in a big car crash. From this point onwards I had persistent shoulder and neck pain that would flare up at particularly stressful times – like driving a car again!
2 years later my parents went through a messy divorce and I was in agony. My shoulder, neck, and sciatica were stopping me from doing my favourite things. My life at 19 years old had been ripped from under me.
The next 6 years were full of physical treatments including injections for bursitis, physios, osteopaths, and chiropractors all saying that I would be in pain forever, and doctors trying to feed me pain medication.
One day, I was wondering what was the point in carrying on. Just why bother if I am going to be in pain like this? I truly felt hopeless and desperate.
Then I remembered a chronic pain book I found years earlier and decided to read it there and then. I saw myself on every single page, and I had the realization that I was suffering with TMS (The Mindybody Syndrome) otherwise known as distraction pain. For the first time I knew that recovery was possible.
The pain returned after that day, but now I knew I could recover. Over the last 2 years I have undergone a radical transformation and regained the ability to do anything I like. Alongside my process, I helped my auntie to recover from years of fibromyalgia and was living with my Dad as he followed the same process to overcome 30 years of sciatica.
Of course I still have pain here and there… who doesn’t!? We are all human and have amazing nervous systems that tell us when we are overwhelmed by life whether that is through the body or the heart. But the key part is, I am no longer held back in any way by my symptoms because I understand and listen to the message they are sending. I am free!
My own and immediate families’ journeys fuelled my passion to share this life-changing knowledge so I trained as a Holistic Life Coach and Mindbody Practitioner with the MindBodyFood Institute to complement my personal experiences.
Firstly, I understand just how shit it can be to live a life while in pain or in fear that pain is going to come. To name but a few of the struggles:
It is so easy to feel isolated and alone on your path however, I am here to fill that gap with a compassionate and non-judgemental understanding of your unique situation.
Secondly, the final piece in my jigsaw was understanding TMS and how to relate the knowledge back to myself. This required space to explore ideas, emotions, practices, and push back against old assumptions. My training as a Holistic Life Coach and Mindbody Practitioner enables me to hold this space for you as you start to shift your mindset and limiting beliefs relating to chronic pain.
Thirdly, if we choose to work together I will be all in for you. I am here to help with your education about chronic pain, shift your brains outdated programming, support you through challenging times, listen with an open-mind and heart, and be your number 1 cheerleader. All I ask in return is that you also give it your all and understand that this is a process, not a quick-fix pill, that is so much easier with support in your corner.
Finally, I aim to help you get PERMANENT results not simply pain relief.
